Your safety is our first and foremost priority
We know how precious your sight is. We want you to have no less than the best to help you maintain and enhance your vision. We use the most advanced surgical technology and premium intraocular lens implants to offer you a truly personalised and world-class outcome. We are pioneers of augmented reality assisted surgery.
The natural lens inside the eye becomes cloudy as a consequence of ageing for the vast majority. Contrary to popular belief, cataracts can be dealt with at any stage. As a rule of thumb, sooner is always better and guarantees a faster recovery, easier surgery and many more years of good vision. If you are elderly, think of cataract surgery as an investment in your safety and quality of life!
Tired of spectacles? Intolerant of contact lenses? You do not need to wait for cataract to have lens replacement surgery. Myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia can all be corrected with intraocular lens implants. Our implants can also be made-to-order for those of you with very specific requirements.
Sometimes, technically good cataract surgery elsewhere does not meet expectations. You may not have been offered a full range of vision implant or had an outcome that was not expected. In such cases, rather than exchanging your lens, we offer enhancement using supplementary implants that are placed without disturbing your existing one.
Floaters, also known as "mouches volantes", are extremely common and can mostly be ignored. Occasionally, they can be so large as to be quite distressing and even dangerous. With modern surgical technology, we can clear floaters with a very short recovery time and minimal disturbance to the surface of the eye to provide the relief that our patients desire. This surgery is often combined with lens replacement.
Ageing brings a number of changes inside the eye. Epiretinal membrane is common and causes wrinkling of the central portion of the retina called the macula. Patients with significant epiretinal membrane usually report distortion of images occurring slowly and progressively. Surgery for removal of epiretinal membrane provides an improvement in the quality of vision and stability of function which can be important for tasks like driving. Missed epiretinal membrane can be a source of dissatisfaction after cataract surgery.
Absolutely. The vast majority of our patients now opt to have so-called immediate bilateral surgery. Modern techniques equate to a rapid recovery with minimal discomfort and no dressings or shields.
Not at all. Implants differ enormously in terms of the material they are made of and what degree of vision correction they offer. We only use premium lenses and we choose from monofocal, monofocal plus, and full range of vision implants to meet your needs.
After an initial consultation, we undertake a series of additional measurements and tests that enable us to guide you in choosing the lens implant best suited to your needs. Surgery is never undertaken without such an assessment.
